The other day I commented a number of times on an article on the thetowntalk.com that denounced the carrying of firearms on college campuses. Years ago, I was arrested at LSU for having a gun in my vehicle but successfully defended my right to possess a firearm in this manner. The charges were dropped but as part of the deal I pleaded guilty to disturbing the peace. In reality, the only “peace” I disturbed was the stand-off with campus police where they actually tried to order me at gunpoint to retrieve my gun and place it on the ground. I of course was not foolish enough to place a weapon in my hand despite the orders of the police to do so. I recall giving every one of those cops a vulgar laced tirade after being arrested. That was years ago of course and I have come to understand that the need to carry a weapon at all times is greatly exaggerated. Now, I don’t even own a gun.
Recently, I noticed that a young man named Courtney Mason (or is it Mason Courtney?) was arrested at LSUA for some sort of tirade in which he was accused of disturbing the peace along with other charges (news clip below). From reports, the young man was involved in some type of dispute with a teacher/professor that resulted with it being alleged that he made some type of threat.
Even a pancake has two sides; I wonder what really happened.
